The Cave Creek Area encompasses everything north of Jomax to the borders of the Town of Cave Creek and Scottsdale and from about 16th St west to 144th St east. The area's post office shares with the Town of Cave Creek, thus leading to the confusion of everyone calling it Cave Creek. A large part of this area is located in North Phoenix and unincorporated county islands, all with the mailing address of Cave Creek. It really needs to be differentiated from the Town of Cave Creek, as you are actually governed by the city of Phoenix or the county. This is very important for election time, knowing where to get utilities and who's jurisdiction it is in case of emergency.

The county islands have a great country feel and allow horses. Older horse ranches can be found among the newer custom homes. Eclectic country feel and mostly no home owners associations! Taxes are less in the unincorporated areas, and you will find most of those roads dirt. Most of the area located in the City of Phoenix will find traditional neighborhoods, some gated, with a very desert feel as higher restrictions have been placed in this area to restrict non-native plantings.
The Cave Creek School District is the school for the area. All Cave Creek's Schools are excelling.
